New Delhi: The BJP on Friday said singing of Vandemataram will be
compulsory in all the municipal schools and cow slaughter will be banned, if it comes to power in the April 5 municipal polls.
"Vandemataram will be sung in every municipal school if our party comes to power in civic body," said Delhi BJP Chief Harshvardhan while announcing the resolutions of his party's manifesto for the elections.
The saffron party has promised to open 20 'gaushalas' and 'gau sadans' in the city.
Also, it has an ambitious plan to bring back "the era of lord Krishna (playing flute) on the banks of Yamuna."
"The banks of Yamuna shall be beautified just like in the era of lord Krishna," says the manifesto.
In yet another effort to play Hindu card, the party has promised to open a last rite-centre in each assembly constituency and modernise all the existing sites.
While releasing the election manifesto meant for municipal polls, the party took the opportunity to repeat its demand for immediate hanging of Afzal Guru, an alleged mastermind in Parliament attack case.
In a bid to play communal card, the saffron party said if it wins municipal polls it would compel the UPA Government to drive out Bangladeshis and Pakistanis, living illegally in the country.
