Srinagar: In an unexpected development, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Friday praised the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government of former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. PDP supremo and former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed said that Vajpayee had started a series of confidence building measures in Kashmir.
Mufti Mohammad Sayeed said, "Vajpayee extended hands of friendship to Pakistan even after Parliament attack. That was a golden period for Kashmir."
The PDP chief had earlier termed the Lok Sabha polls as a historic opportunity for people of Jammu and Kashmir to intensify the process of bringing change in the state.
"The on-going Lok Sabha elections is an historic opportunity for the people to accelerate the campaign for change in the state," Mufti Mohammad Sayeed said in Srinagar.
