According to preliminary probe, tear-gas canisters were found in the shoes of one of the suspects
A major security breach incident took place in Lok Sabha on Wednesday, on the day of the 22nd anniversary of 2001 Parliament attacks.
Sources have, however, cleared that the incident was not a terror attack.

WHAT EXACTLY HAPPENED
Let’s look at how the incident unfolded in Lok Sabha:
- A person was seen jumping from the visitor’s gallery in Lok Sabha, carrying some gas-emitting device.
- The device was left open, leading to a yellow smoke erupting out of it. It is however unclear what the smoke exactly was.
- One person was seen on camera breaching the Lok Sabha, however, two persons have been detained by the officials.
- Sources from inside the parliament said that the two youths were shouting slogan, adding that this breach was done as an act of protest.
- The situation was quickly brought under control, said sources, adding that no one was injured in the incident.
- Security agencies have been asked to go through every CCTV footage, while the on-duty staff is being questioned over the incident.
- Preliminary probe suggests that the gas-emitting canister was in the shoes of the detained person.
- The usual procedure to enter the Lok Sabha requires for a pass to be issued by an MP, ministers and party offices. Sources told News18 that the duo apparently entered the premises with a visitors’ pass.
- Two protesters — a man and a woman — were detained by local police in front of Transport Bhawan. The duo were protesting with colour smoke.
- Sources told News18 that there is no link between Parliament attack anniversary. Multi-agency investigation will be launched to look into this breach.
- Sources have also said that the people detained from outside have told that the main reason for their protest is ‘unemployment’.
- After the incident, thorough checking took place in Parliament and dog squad was also sent.
- Sources have said that the canister, which let out the smoke had some chemical in it and has now been sent for analysis.
- Rajasthan MP Hanuman Beniwal is said to have grabbed the intruders first, the duo however hit him and ran out, where they were grabbed by the security.
- A man has claimed that his son was the person who jumped from the visitors’ gallery in Lok Sabha. He said that he identified his son from the visuals being shown on TV.
- A total of four persons were caught, two from inside the Lok Sabha and two outside.
- Sources have said that the main reason behind the protest was “unemployment was price rise”. We are unemployed and wanted answers from the government, we had no other way to protest, said one of the detained persons.
- A Delhi Special Team has been directed to probe the incident.
