The series first premiered on HBO in 2011 and had a successful run for eight seasons.

Game of Thrones was a record-breaking series that intrigued audiences towards a new genre of content, stellar cast, and captivating storyline. The series first premiered on HBO in 2011 and had a successful run for 8 seasons. The show has spiked interest since the very first season, and there has been a lot of buzz around it on social media. But when the last season aired, the show received some negative criticism from fans. In the latest, makers David Benioff and D.B. Weiss has opened up about the backlash to the last season.

In conversation with The Hollywood Reporter, David Benioff expressed, “You always hope everyone’s going to love anything you do and it would’ve been great if 100 percent of people loved it, but they didn’t. You can get so bogged down in public opinion that you spend your whole life googling things and trying to find people who felt one way or the other way.” D.B. Weiss added, “Even super positive feedback makes you feel weird and teeth-grindy and on edge. There’s a drug quality to the feedback, and as soon as we went cold turkey — the last time I googled myself was in 2013 — the ambient stress level in our lives dropped by about 50 percent overnight.”

The makers mentioned that since the last season aired, they have come across fans personally, and they feel that there is some “decency” when you meet them in person. However, they state that when there is a shift online, the feedback gets more aggressive.

Meanwhile, David Benioff and D.B. Weiss are set to launch their next big project, 3 Body Problem, with Netflix. 3 Body Problem is an adaptation of Liu Cixin’s book trilogy Remembrance of Earth’s Past, which was released in China in 2008 and gained huge popularity and praise. When the epic was translated and released in the United States six years later, The Three-Body Problem became the first Asian novel to win the Hugo Award for best novel.

The Netflix series will launch on March 21, 2024, and is set against the backdrop of China’s Cultural Revolution in the 1960s. The series’ plot revolves around a covert military experiment aimed at making contact with an alien culture. It stars Benedict Wong, Jovan Adepo, John Bradley, Liam Cunningham, Rosalind Chao, Eiza González, Jess Hong, Marlo Kelly, Alex Sharp, Sea Shimooka, Zine Tseng, Saamer Usmani, and Jonathan Pryce.
