The film in question was Phool Khile Hain Gulshan Gulshan directed by Sikandar Khanna.

Mithun Chakroborty’s journey in the film industry has been one of the most inspiring ones. Hailing from a middle-class family, he made his way to the top tier of stars in the industry through his acting as well as his dancing skills. Despite a dull phase in the 90s, when he appeared in low-budget B-grade films, Mithun Chakraborty has managed to stay relevant in the film industry. His mettle as an actor can be gauged from the fact that he received a National Award for his very first film Mrigaya. He later became famous in Russia with his film Disco Dancer. However, did you know that Mithun once acted recklessly in a film that almost cost the life of his co-star Rishi Kapoor?

The film in question was Phool Khile Hain Gulshan Gulshan directed by Sikandar Khanna. It was released in 1978, during the very early phase of Mithun’s career. To retain his role in the film, Mithun hid a crucial fact from director Sikandar Khanna. Mithun did not know how to drive a car at that time but this was a fact that he hid because he had a scene where he had to drive a vehicle in the film. However, he was afraid that if he divulged the truth to the director, he would lose out on the part.

When the scene in question was being filmed, Mithun had to drive a car at high speed and stop it close to Rishi Kapoor. However, since he did not know how to drive, he could not apply the brakes quickly enough, causing Rishi to collide with the bonnet and hit his face on the car. Rishi’s face was injured as a result and he could have even lost his life in this accident. Reportedly, when the director came to know that Mithun did not know how to drive, he reprimanded him harshly.
