Diljit Dosanjh has been making major headlines for not only being a singer, but also due to his acting skills in various Punjabi and Hindi films. One of his recent releases based on the Punjabi singer Amar Singh Chamkila on Netflix, Dosanjh has been garnering numerous attention. Following the same, the singer and actor also performed live in Mumbai on April 13. The singer’s concert marked a groundbreaking event as it was attended by several Bollywood actors including Varun Dhawan, Ayushmann Khurana, Tamannaah Bhatia, Vijay Varma, Rajkummar Rao and Taapsee Pannu. In a recently shared video on his official Instagram handle, Diljit is seen engaging with the attendees of the concert on stage. He also addressed the common stereotypes about Punjabis in the clip. He counters the misconceptions while affirming his fashion sense, acting abilities, and success in Mumbai.
In the video, Diljit Dosanjh is heard saying: “They said Punjabis aren’t fashionable and I said I will show you. They said Punjabis can’t act in films, but I showed them I could. They said Punjabis can’t go to Mumbai, and I proved them wrong.”
While announcing his Vancouver concert on April 27, Diljit Dosanjh further said, “They said Punjabis can’t sell tickets for bar arena, I had the stadium packed at my concert. They said Punjabis can’t do Illuminati, I said I will do Di-Luminati.” Dosanjh said all of this in Punjabi language, while the video showed the crowd cheering for him.
The shared video has garnered over 1.8 million likes on the social media platform, while thousands of Diljit’s fans and followers have commented as well. Amongst numerous followers and fans commenting on the post, many known personalities including influencers and Punjabi actors complimented the actor and singer.
TV anchor and actress Shefali Bagga commented “Power” on Diljit’s post, while the Punjabi actress Neeru Bajwa showed excitement and wrote, “Can’t wait.” Influencers such as Tanzeel Khan, Ashi Khanna, and Unnati Malharkar commented as well.
Currently, Diljit Dosanjh has been winning major praise for his soulful performance in Imtiaz Ali’s Amar Singh Chamkila, after his successful cameo in Kareena Kapoor, Kriti Sanon, and Tabu starring Crew.
