Technical Glitch Mars Golden Globes 2021 from Very First Award as Winner Daniel Kaluuya Goes on Mute

Actor Daniel Kaluuya won the night’s first award at the Golden Globes, taking home Best Supporting Actor in a Motion Picture for his role in Judas and the Black Messiah. However, his acceptance speech initially went unheard by the audience as his audio appeared to be muted. Presenter Laura Dern did her best to move past the moment as she tried to suppress her laughter. Kaluuya’s audio was fixed and he was able to make his speech. He later appeared on screen, ready to accept the prestigious honor. “You did me dirty,” Kaluuya joked.
Many on social media pointed out that the actor was on mute and had a good laugh over the technical issue that may hamper the ceremony even as they go forward.

Kaluuya beat Sacha Baron Cohen (The Trial of the Chicago 7), Jared Leto (The Little Things), Bill Murray (On the Rocks) and Leslie Odom Jr (One Night in Miami) for the award.
