Taha Shah, who shot to fame owing to his role in Heeramandi, spoke about his past struggles with getting clothes and the pressure to always wear new outfits. In an interview, he admitted to reusing clothes due to financial limitations. He also spoke of designer Manish Malhotra’s constant support, in a chat with Zoom.
“I repeat my clothes, I don’t have so much money to waste,” said the actor. Speaking about the pressure to wear new clothes every time he appears in public, he added, “Yes, you have to maintain certain style because every time people see you, wearing different clothes is like a must. Because whenever people see you, you need to look different. So you have to maintain that and it becomes a bit difficult but does it mean that when I am going out, I will not wear the same thing? I will wear it, I don’t have so much money to waste.”
The actor said that while he is thankful for the support he received from stylists and designers after gaining recognition, during less popular times, clothes were harder to come by, and it needed constant ‘begging’. “We are blessed to have so many stylists and designers who give us clothes now. But this is after I got the recognition. But when I wasn’t that popular, nobody gave me clothes, I had to keep begging and pleading them to give me clothes. But, there are also a few people who always stood by me, I will have to admit it too. One of them was Manish Malhotra. He would always invite me to events and dress me up. He has always told me to reach out to him if I needed anything. When I went to Los Angeles to attend a film festival, Manish Malhotra gave me his clothes. He did the same when I went to Dubai. I never had to pay for any of it,” said the actor.
