It looks like Marvel has big plans for its superhero universe at this time. Just after the release of Deadpool & Wolverine today, there’s a buzz that The Fantastic Four’s shooting has also begun. In fact, one of the leads from the upcoming film has shared proof that The Fantastic Four cast is officially together in person and the highly anticipated movie gets underway. Actor Pedro Pascal, who will play Reed Richards (Mister Fantastic) in the upcoming film, recently posted a couple of photos on Instagram showing the main cast. One of the photos also had Vanessa Kirby who is going to play Sue Storm (the Invisible Woman), Joseph Quinn who will portray Johnny Storm (the Human Torch) and Ebon Moss-Bachrach who will be seen as Ben Grimm (the Thing) in the film.
It was accompanied by the caption, “Our first mission together.”

Directed by Matt Shakman, the film will reportedly also have Ralph Ineson, Paul Walter Hauser, Natasha Lyonne and Julia Garner. According to Variety, production for The Fantastic Four had been planned to start in late July in London. The script is penned by Josh Friedman, Jeff Kaplan and Ian Springer. While major plot details are still kept under wraps, the Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige revealed on The Official Marvel Podcast last month that the movie will be set in 1960s New York City.
“There was another piece of art we released with Johnny Storm flying in the air making a 4 symbol and there was a cityscape in the corner of that image. There were a lot of smart people who noticed that that cityscape didn’t look exactly like the New York that we know, or the New York that existed in the ‘60s in our world. Those are smart observations, I’ll say,” Feige said during the podcast, as per a report in Variety.
The Fantastic Four is a cornerstone of Marvel and it was first introduced by writer Stan Lee and artist Jack Kirby in the 1961 comic book titled Fantastic Four No. 1. This marked the beginning of the Marvel Universe, which eventually expanded to include iconic superheroes like Spider-Man, Daredevil and more.
The Fantastic Four had made its film debut in a franchise directed by Tim Story. He directed Fantastic Four (2005) and Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer (2007). In 2015, Josh Trank directed another reboot of the Fantastic Four, but it had flopped at the box office. This time, with a brand new cast, The Fantastic Four is set to hit theatres on July 25, 2025.
