R Balki's PadMan, co-starring Akshay Kumar, Sonam Kapoor and Radhika Apte in key roles, released on February 9 and opened to a mostly positive bag of film reviews. While some lauded the film's noble intent, others praised the story it is based on and still others rooted for the cast performance.
The film has managed to impress not just critics but audience too. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh took to Twitter to share the film's earnings and wrote, "#PadMan showed GOOD TRENDING over the weekend... The film has so far minted over Rs 40 crores and is inching towards the 50 crore club. Based on the real-life story of Arunachalam Muruganantham's journey to make affordable sanitary napkins, the film has been produced by Twinkle Khanna.
