In a recent development, producer Ekta Kapoor and her mother, Shobha Kapoor, were questioned by the Mumbai Police over inappropriate scenes involving minors in the ALT Balaji web series. They have been booked under the POCSO Act which mentions that the producer allegedly involved minor girls in ALT Balaji’s Gandii Baat.
As reported by Deccan Herald, they have been asked to appear for questioning again on October 24. Earlier ANI mentioned that a case has been registered against Balaji Telefilm Limited Alt Balaji, Ekta Kapoor, and her mother Shobha Kapoor at the MHB Police Station in Mumbai. The case was filed under sections 295 A (blasphemy) of the Indian Penal Code, IT Act, and sections 13 and 15 (using a minor for pornographic purposes) of the POCSO Act. The complaint mentioned the series showed minor girls in obscene scenes. The case was related to Season 6 of Gandii Baat, however, the episode is currently not streaming on the app.
The web series streamed on the platform between February 2021 to April 2021. The authorities are currently investigating the case. Ekta Kapoor and Balaji Telefilms have not released a statement regarding the case as of now. Kapoor launched ALTBalaji, an on-demand video platform, in 2017. Gandii Baat had seven seasons and the adult comedy drama was helmed by Sachin Mohite.

She has produced some serials like Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, Kahaani Ghar Ghar Ki, Kasautii Zindagi Kay, Naagin, and Kundali Bhagya to name a few. Apart from serials, she has also produced movies. Some of them include Krishna Cottage, Shor In The City, Ragini MMS, Thank You For Coming, and Crew to name a few. Recently, she produced Dibakar Banerjee’s Love Sex Aur Dhokha 2. The movie dealt with how youngsters navigate relationships in a digitally obsessed society. Unlike the first film, the sequel bombed at the box office.
