BIGBANG, the popular K-pop group that has long ruled the industry, might just be getting ready to make one of the biggest comebacks. There have been rumours of the group performing together at the upcoming 2024 MAMA Awards. Fans of the group, known as VIPs, couldn’t contain their hope for a reunion, especially given the time that has passed since their last major group performance. On October 5, a Korean media outlet reported that BIGBANG, currently composed of G-Dragon, Taeyang and Daesung, was reportedly gearing up to reunite on stage at the upcoming Awards show.
This would mark the first time the group has performed at the prestigious awards show since 2015. The anticipation skyrocketed as fans wondered if they were about to witness a legendary return.
The network behind the MAMA Awards, Mnet, however, was quick to respond to the rumours. Shortly after the news spread, Mnet issued a formal statement, saying, “The lineup of artists attending the 2024 MAMA Awards has not yet been decided.” While the response didn’t confirm the reunion, it certainly didn’t rule it out either, leaving fans hopeful that BIGBANG’s long-awaited group performance could still be in the cards, reports Soompi.
The 2024 MAMA Awards will take place over three days, for the first time ever in both the United States and Japan. The event kicks off at the iconic Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles on November 21 PST and continues at the Kyocera Dome in Osaka on November 22 and 23 KST.
As fans wait, the possibility of a BIGBANG performance this year has stirred excitement like never before. G-Dragon’s solo comeback, along with the ongoing solo projects of Taeyang and Daesung, has already kept fans engaged. But a performance from all three together would be the ultimate dream.
BIGBANG didn’t just dominate charts; they reshaped the industry with their revolutionary sound and electrifying stage presence. Their influence went far beyond Korea. As one of the first K-pop groups to break into the Billboard charts, they paved the way for the wave of artists that followed, marking their place as pioneers of the genre.
The group originally consisted of five members: G-Dragon, Taeyang, Daesung, T.O.P. and Seungri.
