Metti Oli was one of the hit Tamil daily soaps that concluded on October 14, 2005, with 811 episodes. Metti Oli, directed by Thirumurugan, received accolades for the direction, acting and many other aspects. Now, there are reports that the sequel of this series will soon go on floors. According to reports, auditions for this serial were completed recently. Advertisements regarding the auditions were also shared on social media. The audience is curious to know whether the serial will feature actors from the first part or will start afresh with a new cast.

As per the latest reports regarding the sequel of Metti Oli, Thirumurugan, the director who was associated with the first instalment, is no longer a part of the show. Reportedly, another director named Vikramadithan has been roped in to direct the serial. This has come as a shock to the fans of the Thirumurugan who were fans of his directing prowess in Metti Oli. Metti Oli’s cast had a reunion in 2018 during which everyone associated with the show met in Chennai. Everyone shared their old memories of the good times they had during their reunion. Director Thirumurugan had organised the reunion and Venkat Bose had coordinated it. Anchor Farina Azad had hosted it.

Metti Oli held a lot of records during its telecast and touched a rating of 48.3 points in the All India TRP rating. This serial garnered high TRP ratings in Malaysia as well amongst the Tamil serials. Metti Oili refers to the vibrance of metti- one of the ornaments worn by the married woman. Metti Oli was especially popular amongst the homemakers. One of the homemakers earlier talked about the serial in an interview with The New Indian Express. She said, “It’s a very good serial and I love the Gopi character. So I prefer watching it."
