Ayushmann Khurrana and Raaj Shaandilyaa are all set to collaborate again. Earlier, both have worked together for Dream Girl and Dream Girl 2. Reportedly, they are uniting again for a comedy film. Pinkvilla has exclusively reported that they are in talks and if things go well, then they might start shooting soon. Well, things are yet to be made official.
According to a source close to the development, Raaj has written a hilarious family comedy and Ayushmann has shown his interest in doing the film. “The film is a standalone comedy film and not Dream Girl 3. Raaj is writing an hatke comic entertainer and Ayushmann is impressed with the basic idea of the film. The writing will be finished in another month, followed by a narration,” revealed a source close to the development.
While Raaj is currently busy with Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video, Ayushmann is shooting for the yet-untitled comedy film produced by Karan Johar and Guneet Monga. He follows it up with Vampires of Vijay Nagar from October for Dinesh Vijan.
Ayushmann is first time collaborating with Karan Johar-led Dharma Production. The film, yet to be named, will be directed by Aakash Kaushik and is expected to be a unique spy comedy. Sources close to the project told entertainment portal PinkVilla, “Karan and Guneet have been very excited about this subject as the script has shaped up well with a perfect blend of espionage elements with comedy. The script tick marks all the boxes of a commercial film as it has scale, thrill, and action with a lot of comedy, and the trio of Karan, Guneet, and Aakash feel that Ayushmann Khurrana fits the character to the T.”
This film promises to redefine the spy genre within Hindi cinema and will stand out as a quintessential Ayushmann Khurrana film. “The film goes on floors in a couple of months and the official announcement with title is around the corner. The makers are in advanced stages of discussion with Sara Ali Khan to play the female lead,” added the source.
Ayushmann Khurrana was last seen in the film Dream Girl 2, the sequel to his 2019 superhit Dream Girl. It is directed by Raaj Shaandilyaa and starred Ayushmann Khurrana in dual roles. The rest of the cast included Ananya Pandey, who was the female lead, Annu Kapoor, Paresh Rawal, Manjot Singh, Rajpal Yadav and more. It is produced by Ekta Kapoor and Shobha Kapoor under the banner of Balaji Motion Pictures. The film was released on August 25, 2023.
