After a lot of speculations, Ariana Grande has finally released her much-awaited music video titled The Boy Is Mine also featuring actor Penn Badgley.

After weeks of fan speculation around Ariana Grande’s upcoming music video from her Eternal Sunshine album, The Boy Is Mine is finally out. Directed by Christian Breslauer, the music video features Grande alongside Gossip Girl star Penn Badgley and surprise cameos by Monica and Brandy. It portrays a dramatic story set against the backdrop of what seems to be New York City. Notably, rumours of Penn Badgley’s inclusion in the music video have been swirling since last week. She also teased fans with a video of the You star awkwardly dancing to the song’s chorus.

Ariana Grande Turns Catwoman In New Music Video

The music video shows a sanitation issue in the city after Mayor Max Starling (Badgley) fails to address the rat infestation. The video then cuts to show Grande’s character brewing a love potion while watching the live news. She also transforms into a catwoman to win the heart of the mayor, who has now released feral cats to solve the rat problem.

The video surprisingly also features Monica and Brandy as news anchors reporting on the crisis, who originally duetted on the 1998 song The Boy Is Mine. According to Grande, the song inspired her to make her own version.

As soon as the song came out, fans were left super-excited, as many took to the comment section and praised the singer’s latest outing. Model Hailey Bieber wrote, “Obsessed."

Prior to the video release, Grande also made an appearance on The Tonight Show and performed The Boy Is Mine on a rooftop set, donning a short black dress with a cat mask. During this time, she confirmed Badgley’s involvement in the video and said, “The video stars Penn Badgley, who I’ve been a fan of my entire life. It was so amazing to work with him. Super honoured to work with him."

Featuring Glinda the Good Witch in the first part of the musical franchise, she will share the screen with Cynthia Erivo. The first installment is set for release on November 27, while the sequel is to arrive on November 26, 2025.
