Days after a moving video of an elderly couple from Delhi driven to tears for not being able to do business at their dhaba became a social media rage, Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma took to her Instagram stories to share a picture of them.
The couple who were struggling to make ends meet during the pandemic-induced lockdown, changed overnight when a huge crowd queue up outside their make-shift food joint in Malviya Nagar to enjoy home cooked food. All praise for them, Anushka wrote over the pic, “Acche vicharo ko humesha kitabi shiksha kee avashyakta nahi hoti hai (Good thoughts do not always require bookish education).”
For the unversed, a few days back a video on social media went viral that showed the plight of a man over 80-years-old and his elderly wife, both frail and weakened by growing age. They have been maintaining the small food kiosk ‘Baba ka Dhaba’ near Hanuman Temple in Delhi’s Malviya Nagar, since 1988. Usually a popular joint before Covid struck, the couple lost their daily income as people started avoiding roadside food.
After the video was posted online, #BabaKaDhaba became one of the top trends on Twitter, with people sharing it on their accounts. A night after, an outpour of support came from lakhs of people including celebrities, politicians, and even companies.

Meanwhile, Anushka is currently spending time with her husband, cricketer Virat Kohli, in the UAE, where the latest edition of Indian Premier League (IPL) is being held. Last month, Anushka and Virat had announced that they are set to be parents for the first time. They will welcome their first born in January 2021.
