Adhyayan Suman also admitted that his parents supported him from succumbing to drug abuse and alcoholism.

Shekhar Suman’s son Adhyayan Suman made his acting debut in 2008 with Raaz 2. He later starred in Jashnn, which was also a hit movie. However, following the success of these two films, the actor saw a low phase in his career and a few projects he signed were shelved.

In a recent interview, Adhyayan recalled the time he had no work and shared how his parents, Shekhar Suman and Alka Suman, helped him during this phase. While talking about the same, Adhyayan also mentioned about his father and revealed that he is an emotional person who does not talk openly at home.

“It has been a long journey. There were times I felt tired, when I felt I wanted to give up, when there was absolute darkness and when you see light in the form of Heeramandi, which in turn for me is Mr Bhansali, who is the light of my life,” Adhyayan told Indian Express.

“I don’t want to delve into the past but I have been through some tough times and he has been through the thick and thin. My mother is very emotional. While my father is quite emotional, he doesn’t share his feelings as freely. A lot of times, I get to know his thoughts about me via his interviews. he doesn’t talk so openly at home,” the actor added.

Adhyayan further blamed his father for “spoiling” him and shared that even though he always lived a luxurious life, he never took advantage of it. He recalled feeling “jailed” in a 4-floor penthouse because he wasn’t getting any offers.

“I was always very focused. I could have lived a very cushy life during the last eight years, but I know how I felt. Even the four-floor penthouse felt like a luxury jail to me. I felt this is not where I want to be; I felt caged. I wanted to go out and make a mark for myself. I wanted to go out and work, make my parents proud, feel a sense of success as an individual but it wasn’t happening and it got really tough for me,” he said.

However, Adhyayan also admitted that his parents supported him from succumbing to drug abuse and alcoholism. He then opened up about the “emotional baggage” he had and shared, “I used to talk to myself a lot, that was the only way I convinced myself to wake up every morning and fight, do my thing, make those phone calls to people and do auditions, do everything you need to do in the periphery as an actor.”

Adhyayan Suman recently featured in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar. Currently streaming on Netflix, the show also stars Adhyayan’s father Shekhar Suman, Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha, Richa Chadha, Sanjeeda Shaikh, Aditi Rao Hydari, Sharmin Segal Mehta, Farida Jalal and Fardeen Khan in key roles. It explores the various aspects of a woman’s trials and tribulations.
