A Matka Lassi shop, located near one of the Durga Temples, Registry Court in Bihar is dominating the headlines because of its luscious taste. As per Local 18, people from far-off places arrive in Bihar to taste this popular summer drink. The matka lassi is available at this shop at affordable rates of Rs 30 and Rs 50. Not only the commoners, the lassi from this shop is one of the most preferred beverages amongst the judges working here as well. More than 300 glasses of this lassi at the shop are consumed daily.

Shop owner Ashish Kumar said that he sells the customers’ lassi at three rates, i.e.- glass lassi at Rs 30, matka lassi at Rs 50 and saffron matka lassi priced at Rs 100. Ashish also talked about the ingredients required to prepare the matka lassi. According to him, 200-250 grams of curd is consumed for the preparation. In addition to the curd, Lassi is prepared by adding other ingredients including cashew nuts, raisins and coconut. In addition to these foods, Rajasthani cherries, mawa, rabri, cream, RoohAfza, and sugar powder are also added. For those who don’t know, mawa is used in the preparation of sweets.

The shop owner added that for the preparation of matka lassi, Matka is brought from Bettiah, Bihar on special order. The natives drink the Lassi at his shop and also get it packed for home. Ashish proudly exclaimed that Not only from nearby areas, but people from far and wide locations come to his shop. One of the major reasons why consumers like to prefer coming to his shop is the cleanliness factor. Along with the delicious taste of the Matka Lassi, shop owner Ashish leaves no stone unturned in taking care of cleanliness.

Amongst the matka lassi, one of the most sought-after dishes is the dry fruit matka lassi. To prepare this lassi, people need the following ingredients in the right quantities. They are-

1. 250 grams fresh curd

2. 1/2 glass of milk sugar according to taste

3. Dryfruits like Cashews, almonds, raisins, makhana, Chironji and coconut as required

4. ice cubes as required
