Falguni Shane Peacock, who're returning to Lakmé Fashion Week after a gap of 6 years, presented their collection titled 'The Rebel' on day 3. The duo showcased 34 looks, inspired by the cons constellation/galaxy at the show with colour palette ranging from silver, grey, blues, black and nudes to champagne. The collection was high on glitz and glam and left the connoisseurs of fashion longing for more.
The designers have impressed one and all with their spellbinding collection not just here in India but abroad too. Having dressed the likes of Kim Kardashian, Fergie, Nicole Scherzinger, Jennifer Lopez, Madonna, Paris Hilton and Britney Spears in the west and Kangana, Sonam and Deepika back home, the celebrated designer duo even wishes to dress the sportswomen of India. "We would like to dress all the sportswomen of our country, they do us proud".
While talking about their absence from Lakmé Fashion Week since 6 years, the designers clarified that they were just occupied with international shows and that it was a bit difficult to maintain both worlds. "We were right here. It's not a comeback - we were just doing too many shows abroad like New York Fashion Week etc so it was difficult to maintain both worlds".
According to the designers, there are many definitions of modern women. But the one that fits their bill is someone "who is completely comfortable in her body type and is willing to be different". They also credited Sonam Kapoor to change the game in Bollywood's fashion industry. "Sonam Kapoor all the way.. for all the right reasons", added the duo.
The designers are of the view that a showstopper in India doesn't take the attention away from the clothes but only adds to it. "In India, a showstopper does not take away from the collection, it only adds to more recognition and association of the brand and the show stopper".
Actress Bipasha Basu turned the perfect muse fro the designer duo as she sashayed down the runway in a pastel sequin encrusted gown with long floor-length cape sleeves with a plunging neckline.
