Bollywood actor Sonam Kapoor, who recently marked her international runway debut in a fairytale-like ivory Ralph and Russo gown, turned a bride in white for designer duo Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla on Friday evening.
In an interaction with News18.com, the actress shared her excitement on turning a fantasy bride and was all praises for the duo. "I feel great. It's a beautiful outfit. It has got all moti ka kaam on it and it also has Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla's famous chikankari work on it. It's stunning," she said.
Considering the general acuity for colour white in our country, wherein men and women resort to it mostly during a period of mourning and avoid wearing white to celebratory occasions, Abu Jani-Sandeep Khosla has been in the forefront in changing people's attitude towards the much infamous shade. When asked if she finds white to be a little controversial, she quipped, "I don't know if it's controversial, I think right now in India anything can be controversial."
"I think this colour is always fantastic. I love all sorts of colours and white signifies purity so I like it," she added.
On the Shaadi By Marriott ramp, when one witnessed a fantasy wedding, celebrated with all its inherent complexities - grandeur and traditionalism and of course, couture for an entourage of relatives besides the bride and groom, one couldn't help but wonder what is Sonam's favourite part about a wedding. "I think maybe the mehendi. Also, you know just the shringaar that we do, I think it's a rite of passage and very traditional."

The actor, with a certain guarded enamour, also revealed her definition of a quintessential bride. "A happy bride. I think someone who's happy and excited to start her new life is always a quintessential bride."
Sonam is often credited for turning streets into runways - whether it's her casual outings or her travel diaries - if it's Sonam, it has to be a chic appearance and nothing less. When asked about the trend of airport looks and gym looks, the actress said, "I never call the paparazzi, they just turn up. So I'm not trying to dress up for them. And I don't think I've ever been photographed in my gym looks because the paps are never called by me either."
Sandeep Khosla, one-half of the designer duo, attributed the revitalising of the term fashionista to Sonam. "She's the best.. She's the woman who's invented the word fashionista in India. She's responsible for it. And look what an honour, she's just walked for Ralph and Russo and she's loved our clothes since she was a kid."
"It's been a great association with her. We've known her mother for like 25 years. She's one of a kind," he added.
