Remember the 2009 animated Pixar movie Up? Who can forget the iconic scene of Carl Fredricksen’s house lifting off into the sky, suspended by thousands of colourful balloons? It is a movie that has captured the hearts of many. Over the years, fans have tried to recreate the scene using Legos, paper and other materials. Now, a pastry chef has perfectly mimicked the scene in the movie, bringing his skills to levels that are beyond our imagination.
Chocolatier Amaury Guichon has made viewers’ jaws drop after he posted an Instagram reel of him recreating the scene entirely with chocolate! The chocolate house, complete with intricate details and colourful balloons, is a masterpiece that will leave you speechless.
The video begins with Amaury expertly squeezing coloured chocolate into oval-shaped trays, creating the perfect mini balloons. As the chocolate dries, he carefully joins the ovals together, forming numerous tiny balloons. But that’s not all – he then pours a massive amount of liquid chocolate into a large oval container, creating the main balloon. After adding a touch of blue food colouring and attaching the mini balloons, the masterpiece starts to take shape.
But wait, there’s more! Amaury skillfully assembles chocolate slices to form the iconic house from the movie Up. With a few strokes of his brush, the chocolate house comes alive with colours. Then, he inserts a long stick into the large chocolate balloon and attaches the house, suspending it mid-air with sugar syrup strings. Voila! The famous Up house is now floating before your eyes.
Amazing, isn’t it?
The video was posted a few days ago, and since then it has gone viral, accumulating over 48 million views. Pixar Productions heaped praise on the fabulous creation and wrote, “This is incredible! Kevin would love it.” Kevin is a giant colourful bird in the movie, resembling a cross between a parrot and a toucan.
“I wish I had 1/100th the talent this guy has,” expressed a user.
“I adore your creations! My dream is to meet you in person and actually watch you make your chocolate artwork! I would even love to get a tour of your studio,” said another.
A foodie commented, “Wow, that not only looks amazing but totally delicious.”

A fan remarked, “Just when I thought you couldn’t get any more creative.”
