Traffic restrictions will be in place in Kolkata on Sunday in the view of India-South Africa Cricket World Cup match at Eden Gardens. As per the traffic advisory, restrictions will be in place around the stadium from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 p.m.
In the advisory dated October 20, the police listed parking and traffic restrictions in the area around Eden Gardens for the Sunday match. The authorities also urged spectators to use the metro trains to commute instead of personal vehicles to prevent traffic congestion.
The Kolkata Metro Rail Corporation also announced that it will be running two additional trips on the Eden Gardens route to help spectators commute.

Ind vs SA at Kolkata’s Eden Gardens: Traffic Diversions
- Movement of all types of goods vehicles will be restricted and diverted from the roads or road stretches at and around Eden Gardens and the Maidan area on Sunday.
- Movements of all types of goods vehicles will be restricted in and around Victoria Memorial Hall, i.e. Portion of AJC Bose Road between D L Khan Road to Cathedral Road, Hospital Road, Queensway, Cathedral Road, Casuarina Avenue and Lovers Lane.
- Kshudiram Bose Road (Auckland Road), North Brooke Avenue and Gostha Pal Sarani (Kingsway) will be closed to all types of vehicles on Sunday till 11:30 pm.
- Vehicles going towards the High Court will be diverted to move along Esplanade Row West, instead of Auckland Road and North Brooke Avenue, as and when considered necessary by traffic authorities.
- Buses and Mini Buses coming from south Kolkata will be diverted (i) from Guru Nanak Sarani (Mayo Road) towards Netaji Statue Old Court House Street, and B B D Bag.
- Buses and Mini Buses coming from S N Banerjee Road will be diverted towards R R Avenue, Govt Place East, Old Court House Street.
- Motorists from south Kolkata may avail of AJC Bose Road, St. Georges Gate Road, and Strand Road and find access to the BBD Bag area through Kiran Sankar Roy Road towards Council House Street.
- Howrah-bound buses and minibuses coming from South and South West Kolkata along D H Road, Khidderpore Bridge – Khidderpore Road will be diverted from Hastings crossing via St. Georges Gate Road – Strand Road.
- Vehicular traffic may also be diverted from any of the arterial and feeder roads by traffic police.
- To ensure uninterrupted flow of traffic, tram services, in the BBD Bag, Esplanade, Old Court House Street, B B Ganguly Street and Maidan areas will be regulated as and when considered necessary by the traffic police.
Parking Restrictions
Parking of vehicles will be prohibited on both sides of the following roads as and when considered necessary by the Traffic Police on duty:
- Gostha Pal Sarani (Kingsway).
- Kshudiram Bose Road (Auckland Road).
- Government Place East.
- Rani Rashmoni Avenue.
- Old Court House Street.
- Indira Gandhi Sarani (Red Road).
- Guru Nanak Sarani (Mayo Road).
- Dufferin Road
