The homegrown car Mahindra landed in the soup after a shocking car accident news came into the limelight, where a man from Kanpur was killed last year in the company’s one of the hot-selling products Scorpio. While launching the sharp attack on the brand and dragging the matter legally, the decade’s family claimed that the victim been saved if the company had provided the airbags in it.

FIR Against Mahindra Over Car Accident in Kanpur

Days after when an FIR was being filed by the victim’s family against Mahindra regarding the matter, the company issued an official statement about the 18-month-old incident, clarifying the allegation raised by the family.

Mahindra’s Official Statement

Mahindra in its official statement said “It was alleged that the vehicle did not have airbags. We would hence like to categorically reconfirm that the Scorpio S9 variant manufactured in 2020 did have airbags. We have investigated and there was no malfunction of the airbags. It was a rollover case that would not deploy the frontal airbags. A detailed technical investigation was completed by our teams in October 2022.”

Mahindra also wrote that the matter is currently sub judice and the company is committed to cooperating with the authorities for any further investigation that is required. We completely empathize with the family and offer our deepest condolences to them in their grief, Mahindra added in its official statement.

Here’s What Family Says About Accident

As per the details shared by the deceased’s family member, the victim met with a horrible accident when he was on his way from Lucknow to Kanpur. While driving, he lost control of the steering wheel and got banged with a divider. It has been informed that the victim died on the spot then. Later, the family investigated the matter and approached the Indian car manufacturer over the non-deployment of airbags.

It was also claimed by the family that when they reached the authorized service station, the manager behaved rudely with them. He even abused them and gave death threats to the family over the matter.

Later, after not getting a positive response from the company’s official, the family took legal action and filed an FIR against the company and 12 others in Kanpur.
