Will corner Fadnavis government over Muslim quota: Congress
"We will corner the government and demand that it scrap its decision to cancel the five per cent quota for Muslims announced by the Congress-NCP regime last year," MMPCC spokesperson Sachin Sawant said.

Mumbai: Congress on Thursday said that it will corner the Devendra Fadnavis-led Maharashtra government over the issue of Muslim reservations during the ensuing Budget session of the state legislature.

"We will corner the government and demand that it scrap its decision to cancel the five per cent quota for Muslims announced by the Congress-NCP regime last year," Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee (MMPCC) spokesperson Sachin Sawant said in Mumbai.

He was speaking after a meeting of party functionaries in Mumbai on the issue of the Muslim government job reservation quota. The meeting was chaired by the newly-appointed state Congress President Ashok Chavan.

He said that the Congress plans to organise statewide protests against the BJP-led Mahrashtra government's decision to do away with job reservation quota for Muslims.

Mumbai Regional Congress Committee (MRCC) President Sanjay Nirupam said that the BJP-led government has shown its "feelings" for Muslims by taking this action.

Meanwhile, Leader of Opposition in the legislative council Dhananjay Munde of the NCP told PTI that by scrapping the government resolution on Muslim quota, the BJP-Sena government had demonstrated that it is "anti-Muslim".
