Bareilly: A couple was expelled from the village by a panchayat in Hafizganj area after they married against the wishes of their family members. Ahmad Nabim, a resident of Savarkhera village eloped with a girl of the same village a month back and got married against the wishes of their family members on October 21, police sources said.
When the couple returned on November 26 their marriage was opposed by some persons, who called a panchayat and directed them to live out of the village till 2015, the sources said. The couple was allegedly threatened as well after which they met Additional Superintendent of Police (Rural) Vinay Kumar Yadav on Thursday and sought security.
Taking serious note of the incident, the ASP directed DySP Arun Kumar Singh to inquire into the matter and provide security to the couple. ASP Yadav said that keeping in view security of the newly-wedded couple two policemen have been deployed and they would continue to live in the village. He said that those issuing threats would be arrested.
