Kolkata: Two Jadavpur University students arrested in connection with the alleged molestation of a woman student were on Saturday remanded to judicial custody till September 29 by a city court in Kolkata.

"Nikhil Das, a student of third year, civil engineering, and Sonu Kumar, of second year, mechanical engineering, were presented before a city court which remanded them to judicial custody till September 29," said a police officer.

The duo was arrested on Friday following interrogation at the city police headquarters.

The victim - a History (Hons.) student - has alleged that she was dragged into the boys' hostel and molested on August 28.

While the varsity students have been agitating demanding an independent probe into the alleged molestation, the West Bengal government has set up a probe panel headed by Calcutta University Vice-Chancellor Suranjan Das.
