KEONJHAR: Following failure of talks between the district administration and truck owners’ association, the latter has decided to go ahead with the proposed bandh on April 30.The meeting called by Collector D V Swamy on Friday afternoon remained inconclusive. The truck owners of the district and the employees have also decided to stall movement of goods trains from May 2.The decision to transport minerals by trains has affected livelihood of 40,000 truck owners of the district and three lakh employees, said vice president of Keonjhar district truck owners’ association Ashis Chakravorty.It has been a year since the State Government decided to stop transport of minerals by road. Besides closure of several mines has adversely affected the truckers.Sub-collector of Champua Bijay Ketan Upadhyay said further meetings will be held with the association.On the other hand, truck owners’ associations of Barbil and Joda have decided to extend support to the bandh call.
