Chennai: DMK chief M Karunanidhi's daughter and Rajya Sabha member Kanimozhi, who has been granted bail in the 2G spectrum case, will not reach Chennai till December 3 as she has to attend a court hearing in New Delhi over the multi-crore scam, the party said on Tuesday.
DMK has planned to organise a big welcome for her when she reaches Chennai. An elated DMK chief M Karunanidhi said on Monday that the party would organise a big welcome for her, when she arrives in Chennai.
"I am happy that Kanimozhi has been granted bail. She spoke to me soon after the court gave her bail and both of us shared the happiness," Karunanidhi, who met his daughter thrice in Tihar Jail, where she was lodged after her arrest on May 20, told reporters in Chennai.
"I am not an autocrat. The Party will decide on giving a new position to Kanimozhi," he said when asked whether she would be given a new position in the party.
Kanimozhi would be in Chennai upto December 6 and then go to Delhi to attend the hearing of the 2G case to return on December 10.
Kanimozhi was arrested in May for her alleged role in the 2G spectrum scam case. She and four others were on Monday granted bail by the Delhi high court.
