New Delhi: In wake of the full dress rehearsal of Republic Day Parade on Thursday, Delhi Police on Wednesday issued a traffic advisory asking people to avoid roads leading to Rajpath in the morning hours as it would remain close for vehicles.
The parade will start around 9.50 am from Vijay Chowk and end at the Red Fort. "In order to facilitate the free passage of parade, movement of traffic on certain roads leading to the route of the parade will be restricted," the advisory said.
No traffic will be allowed from Vijay Chowk to India Gate on Rajpath from 5 am to 12.30 pm. While no cross traffic will be allowed on Rajpath from Rafi Marg, Janpath, Man Singh Road, C-Hexagon from 9.30 am. Traffic will be stopped on Tilak Marg, Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg and Subhash Marg from 10 am.
However, cross traffic will be allowed as per parade position. Metro services will be available for commuters, except Central Secretariat and Udyog Bhawan stations which will remain closed up to 12.30 pm. "There would be elaborate traffic arrangements to facilitate the movement of VIP vehicles, invitees and general public to reach the place of function and also to ensure safe and smooth flow of traffic in other parts of the city during the parade," said Additional Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Anil Shukla.
