PUDUCHERRY: T Thiagarajan, who defeated R Radhakrishnan, ex-speaker of the Territorial Assembly in Bahour constituency, was sworn in as pro-tem speaker by Lieutenant Governor Iqbal Singh at a simple function at Raj Nivas, on Wednesday. As per the notification issued by the government on Monday, Thiagarajan has been delegated powers to administer the oath of office to other elected members. He will administer the oath of office to the newly elected members when the Assembly meets on June 3. He will continue as pro-tem speaker till a speaker is chosen by the elected members.Chief Minister N Rangasamy, MLAs of the All India NR Congress, Independent member V M C Sivakumar, chief secretary to the government R Chandramohan, secretary of Legislative Assembly Sivaprakasam as well as senior officials of the government were present during the swearing-in ceremony.
