WARANGAL: Six teachers and headmaster of a primary school who took 30 girl students on an excursion and made them perform lewd dances for their own entertainment have been suspended for indecent behaviour.Police said 45 students of the Government Upper Primary School at Narasimhulugudem village in Nellikuduru mandal were taken to the Laknavaram lake in Govindaraopet mandal for an excursion on Dec.26. Thirty of them were girls.Headmaster R Venkata Reddy, teachers J Veeraswamy, Y Madhusudhan, Md Madeen Ahmed, S Praveen Kumar, Venkata Narasaiah and Venkateswarlu allegedly consumed liquor during the trip and forced the girls to perform obscene dances, while two women teachers watched agape.When they returned home, the girls narrated their experience to their parents.Infuriated, the parents attacked one of the teachers, Veeraswamy, and ransacked the headmaster’s office.Police intervened and pacified the villagers but Veeraswamy was injured and had to be taken to hospital.After receiving a report on this incident, district education officer (DEO) A Pushparaj conducted a preliminary inquiry on Thursday. Based on his findings, the DEO issued an order Friday, suspending the six teachers and the headmaster.Following a complaint by the schoolgirls, a case was registered against the teachers. Headmaster Venkata Reddy was arrested and produced in court at Torruru.Nellikuduru sub-inspector A Venkateswara Rao said Veeraswamy, now undergoing treatment in hospital, would also be arrested. The DEO said the headmaster had not informed about the excursion.
