HYDERABAD: A class VI student of a private school died under suspicious circumstances in swimming pool in a resort at Ghatkesar on city outskirts on Thursday. The girl was sitting on banks of the pool with her legs in the waters when she reportedly got electrocuted, the school management claimed.But no other student inside the water at the time met the same fate.The deceased girl, Ankitha Patel (11) was daughter of a businessman from ECIL.According to Ghatkesar police sub-inspector R Ravi, students of the Gowtham Model High School at ECIL had gone on a picnic to Srinidhi Resorts at Aushapur under Ghatkesar police limits on Thursday.Nearly 137 students along with school staff arrived at the place in four buses. “The kids played in the park for sometime and after having lunch, the girl students went to the swimming pool. While some entered the waters, other sat on the railing with their legs inside the water,” Ravi said.According to the school management, nearly 10 girls who sat on the side reportedly felt the shock for a few seconds but Ankitha fell backwards and became unconscious.“She was immediately shifted to a nearby private hospital where she was declared dead,” Ravi said.Police said there is no clarity about the cause of the death.The school management alleged that electricity passed from a water motor located in vicinity of the pool. Based on complaint of the management that the student died due to electrocution, a case under Section 304A (negligence leading to death) was registered against the resort management.
