HYDERABAD: The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) on Sunday demanded that then power minister and also the member of the threemember cabinet subcommittee K Rosaiah should also be probed by the CBI as he had signed the power purchase agreements (PPAs) and should be held responsible for 'irregularities'.
TDP MLA Dhulipala Narendra Kumar said at a press meet here that YSR Congress honorary president YS Vijayamma mentioned PPAs in her plea in the High Court seeking a probe against TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu. Actually, the state got benefited from the review of PPAs by the previous TDP regime. The rate of Spectrum power company was reduced from Rs 1.44 to Rs 1.29 and GVK from Rs 1.36 to Rs 1.31. Thus the TDP regime saved Rs 600 crore to the state exchequer, the MLA said. But, YS Rajasekhara Reddy as an Opposition leader, levelled serious allegations against the PPAs signed during the TDP regime and assured that the Congress government would review the PPAs. The same PPAs signed during the TDP regime were approved by the then power minister K Rosaiah.
