Describing that Railway Minister Mallikarjun Kharge had done a "good job", PCC on Wednesday welcomed the interim Rail budget for leaving passenger fares and freight rates untouched and giving two trains to Jharkhand.

Appreciating that the fare has not been hiked but modernisation and rail facilities in Jammu and Kashmir as well the northeastern part of the country have been addressed, PCC chief Sukhdeo Bhagat welcomed the budget.

"We welcome the budget and the two new trains given to Jharkhand." Bhagat said.  The budget mentioned the introduction of Ranchi to New Jalpaiguri Express Train (weekly) and the Tata Nagar-Chakulia daily passenger train.

He said the inclusion of Koderma-Nawadih new rail project was appreciative.  Also welcoming the interim budget, Jharkhand State Women's Congress Committee president Abha Sinha thanked the Railway Minister for giving two new trains to the state.

The BJP, however, criticised the budget, terming it as a "disappointment" for the state.

"Jharkhand trailed in the railway map of the country in the ten years of Congress-led UPA rule as it did not address the requirement of rail network in the state," BJP's state unit spokesman Pradip Sinha claimed.
