HYDERABAD: Several persons from North East who came to Hyderabad for pursuing higher studies were staying back in the city as they are preferring to take up employment here, former home secretary K Padmanabhaiah has said. “It is a positive sign,” he added.Padmanabhaiah, who was involved in the negotiations with several militant groups in the North-East for nearly a decade, said: “The people from these states have a feeling of claustrophobia. And people should stop ill-treating them because of their looks. It should also be noted they are very outgoing people,’’ Padmanabhaiah said while delivering a lecture on ‘Internal security- post 26/11 Indian and American perspectives’ at Osmania University on Wednesday.According to him, except Manipur, the remaining states have been peaceful for the last several years.
