No explosives detected, Jet Airways Delhi-Kathmandu flight set for take off
Flight was stopped from taking off after an anonymous caller said there was a 'gift box' on seat 18

New Delhi: Jet Airways Delhi-Kathmandu flight 9W 260 from the Indira Gandhi International Airport was cleared for take off on Monday evening, five hours after it was halted following a bomb threat.

This after no explosives were found on board during search operations. The threat call came about half an hour before the plane, carrying 104 passengers and seven crew members, was to take off for Kathmandu at its scheduled departure time of 1.25pm.

The anonymous caller said there was "a gift box" on seat 18 but didn't specify which one. He ended the call saying "Happy Republic Day".

All the passengers were asked to disembark and taken to the departure waiting area at the Delhi airport, while the plane was searched. The Bomb Threat Assessment Committee (BTAC) was also activated.

The threat comes just a day ahead of the 68th Republic Day on Tuesday. Security is at an all-time high with French president Francois Hollande attending the celebrations.
