After a series of wolf attacks in Uttar Pradesh’s Bahraich that shook the entire region, five people were injured after a wolf attacked them while they were sleeping outside their house in Madhya Pradesh’s Khandwa, the police confirmed on Saturday.
The reports claimed that the incident unfolded in the wee hours of Friday when the family was sleeping outside their house near a field in Khalwa, an area dominated by tribal population. A woman and four other men sustain injuries on their hands. They were rushed to a hospital for treatment.
Subsequently, the villagers, on getting to know about such an incident, caught the wolf, beaten with sticks, and tied the animal with a rope.
The forest department officials are yet to submit an official statement on the matter. They stated that action would be taken after investigating the matter.
It added that the area, situated just 20 kilometres away from the district headquarters, often witnesses the entry of wild dogs, foxes and wolves as it’s near a dense forest.
No End of Wolf Menace: The Bahraich Horror
The MP’s Khandwa incident mirrors the endless number of wolf attacks in Bahraich in neighbouring Uttar Pradesh. Located on the Saryu River, the city recorded 10 deaths, the majority being children, due to wolf attacks in the last two months. More than 35 people were injured.
Such was the distress that the Uttar Pradesh government had to declare it a ‘wildlife disaster’. The state government also fielded nine shooters to catch the wolves, while residents continue to live in fear.
