WARANGAL: Professor K Srinivasa Rao, who was appointed as director of National Institute of Technology (NIT), Warangal, assumed charge today from in-charge director K Srimannarayana.Prof Srinivasa Rao is an alumnus of the NIT. The new director vowed to transform the NIT into a model institute in the next six months. He promised to improve basic amenities in the institute and give priority to research.Hailing from Nellore district, Rao did his B.Tech in metallurgy between 1977 and 1982 from the earlier regional engineering college (REC), Warangal. The REC was later upgraded as NIT.Later, Rao completed his M.Tech from IIT, Khanpur and Ph.D from REC, Trichy. He also obtained fellowship in postdoctorate from Texas University, USA. Heads of various departments in the institute congratulated the director.
