NFF National Meet concludes

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The national conference of the National Fish workers Forum (NFF) concluded here on Friday. The final day was marked with a colourful march including drummers from Kerala and fisher women, performing traditional fisherfolk dance. NFF chairperson Matanhy Saldanha, general secretary Rambau Patil, secretaries Pradip Chatterjee and T Peter participated in the meet. The legitimate demands and aspirations of the fishing community should be met by the State and Central Governments, the meet urged.  The NFF also pushed for a separate ministry for fisheries at the Centre,  which is a longstanding demand.  T Peter of KSMTF warned the UDF Government to refrain from moves which will deprive the fisher people of their livelihood.
