BANGALORE: Children who wear the costumes of historic persons in their school days wish to become like them. Little did a security supervisor know that his admiration for Kempegowda, and his interest to dress-up like his hero, would let him be ‘Kempegowda’ every year. M B Gurubasavayya, a security supervisor at BBMP office, wore the Kempegowda costume for the eighth time during Kempegowda Day celebrations on Friday. On over 30 occasions, he has dressed like Kempegowda. The 63-year-old supervisor says, “Today’s generation is not familiar with Kempegowda. I want to show the youths how Kempegowda looked and behaved. I have enacted the role of Kempegowda in many plays.” He has won Kempegowda award, Akhila Bharata Sahitya Sammelana award and Kanaka award.
