New Delhi: A murder convict died in Tihar Jail here reportedly due to illness, officials said on Saturday.
Sirajuddin, 37, died on Thursday. He was lodged in the prison since 2009 in a murder case registered in east Delhi's Welcome police station.
"He died around 12.00 p.m. on Thursday. He was a heart patient as well as a diabetic," Tihar Jail DIG Mukesh Prasad told IANS.
The body was sent for autopsy and a magisterial enquiry launched, he said.
According to the officer, Sirajuddin was undergoing medical treatment for a long time.
