New Delhi: The Bhatts are back with their popular franchise 'Murder'. When the first of the series came out in 2004 with complete no-starrers (It had lesser known actors like Emraan Hashmi, Mallika Sherawat and Ashmit Patel) no one expected the erotic thriller to do well. But to everyone's surprise, the film went on to become one of the biggest hits of that year and subsequently led to Murder 2 and now Murder 3.
Known for making gripping thrillers which are high eroticism, the Bhatts have carved a niche for themselves in the industry. Debutant filmmaker Vishesh Bhatt's 'Murder 3' is also a psychological thriller and an official remake of a spanish film the 'The Hidden Face'. The original film was tight thriller and brilliant example of how a gripping whodunit should be. It would be interesting to see if Vishesh Bhatt is able to make 'Murder 3' as gripping as its original film.
When 'Murder' released, it catapulted Emraan Hashmi into the big league and also earned him the tag of a 'serial kisser. Hashmi went on to do similar thrillers but none could make that much of an impact as 'Murder' did at the Box Office. Hashmi also starred in 'Murder 2'. But the Bhatts roped in Randeep Hooda for the thrid installment of the franchise- a shift that could be a risky one. While Hooda's acting prowess has been proved in films like 'Jannat' and 'Sahib Biwi and Gangster', 'Murder 3' would be his first major film as a solo lead. The film is important for Hooda as well as its heroines- Aditi Rao Hydari, who till now has been doing art house films mostly and Sara Loren, whose Bollywood debut opposite Himesh Reshamiya in a film called 'Kajraa Re' sank without a trace.
Will the film match up to the success of 'Murder'? Shomini Sen of IBNLive.com was inside the theatre to live tweet the experience.
