Mumbai: Two people died while five others were injured when a seven-storey building collapsed in Vakola area of Mumbai on Friday morning.
Locals said that a lawyer used to reside in the building even though the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation had issued a notice for its demolition.
Apart from the lawyer, the building was unoccupied. The BMC had categorised it as a dilapidated building and cut its water and power supply.
This is the second building collapse in Mumbai in six months. Sixty six people were killed in a building collapse in September 2013.
Rescue operations are currently underway. A fire brigade and a team of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) is at the spot.
