New Delhi: In a pointed message to Pakistan, US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said on Monday, "a significant number" of 9/11 attackers are hiding in the border areas of that country".
"We firmly believe that a significant number of them are there in border areas of Pakistan," Hillary Clinton said at a joint press interaction with India's External Affairs Minister S M Krishna.
"And we have conveyed to Pakistan that we are looking for additional information on them," she said when asked by an American journalist about the fate of the US probe into 9/11 attacks in New York and Washington.
Hillary Clinton's remarks came a day after she called Pakistan as the home of a global syndicate of terrorism comprising the Taliban, al-Qaeda and assorted militant outfits.
The US Secretary of State has repeatedly stressed during her five-day India visit that ends Tuesday that Pakistan was showing "an evolving commitment" to combat terrorism over the last few months.
In the same breath, she asked Pakistan to bring the perpetrators of the 26/11 Mumbai carnage to justice.
These remarks are seen as veiled persuasion by Washington to nudge New Delhi to resume dialogue with Islamabad.
