CHENNAI: Former CM and DMK patriarch M Karunanidhi has sent a legal notice to a Tamil magazine for publishing an article with an intention to defame him. Advocate P Wilson sent the notice to the weekly on behalf of Karunanidhi that read, “Knowing fully well that the article is false, baseless and far from truth, with a malicious intention and calculated attempt to tarnish and malign the image of the DMK patriarch, you (the magazine) have published the reckless and highly mischievous news article.”The magazine had published a news article in its latest issue saying that the DMK patriarch allegedly deposited Rs 35,000 crores in a foreign bank. “Our client further calls upon you (magazine) to immediately tender open and unconditional apology, failing which he will be constrained to initiate criminal proceedings against the magazine for damages in an appropriate court for printing and publishing defamatory news,” the legal notice read.
