ANANTAPUR: A 70-year-old accountant in a liqour shop, who went missing five days ago, was found dead in Gujaramaplle on Tuesday.Adeppa, a resident of Venugopal Nagar in Anantapur town, worked as an accountant in three liquor shops in Dharmavaram town. On April 14 evening, he went out of the house on receiving a phone call and did not return that night or the next day morning.The family members got panicky and tried to contact him, but in vain. Then they searched for him everywhere and finally lodged a complaint with Anantapur DSP, who transferred the case to One Town police station.Meanwhile, Pamidi police received a call from some shepherds of Gujaramaplle village on Tuesday about an unidentified body of an old man. Police rushed to the spot and shifted the body to the hospital. They deceased was identified as Adeppa and alerted Anantapur police.According to the police, there were no injuries on the body and the cause of death is being suspected as strangulation. However, the exact cause would be ascertained only after the receipt of the postmortem report, they said. Adeppa’s family members said that had the police responded immediately after they had lodged a complaint, his life would have been saved. One Town CI D Bhaskar said that they had registered the complaint on April 15 and immediately started investigation. Pamidi circle inspector is investigating the case.According to sources `15 lakh went missing from Sai Wines in Dharmavaram town in which Adeppa used to maintain accounts. The wine shop management’s hand is suspected in the murder.
