Mild tremors in Vellore district

VELLORE: Several rural pockets in Vellore district on Monday night experienced mild tremors sending people out of their houses.Residents of Ambur and Gudiyattam areas complained that they felt their houses shake, and some utensils rattled and fell down. There were a few phone calls to the Express office about the experience.In some other locations, people heard loud noises followed by land shaking below them, which was felt mostly by people who were squatting on the floor. While the tremor was felt more by villages, it was felt to a lesser extent in the town. The district administration, however, was not able to confirm the incident or the extent of its impact.
