Meat found at Mohammad Akhlaq's house was not beef: Chief veterinary officer
In a gruesome incident, Akhlaq was lynched and his son was grievously injured following rumours that his family has consumed beef in Bishada village of Dadri in Uttar Pradesh.

The Uttar Pradesh Chief veterinary officer's report backed the chargesheet filed by the police and said that the meat found at Dadri lynching victim's home was not beef but mutton.

In a gruesome incident, 50-year-old Mohammad Akhlaq was lynched and his son was grievously injured following rumours that his family has consumed beef in Bishada village of Dadri in Uttar Pradesh.

Almost three months after the incident, the Uttar Pradesh Police had filed a chargesheet against 15 persons. One suspect is a juvenile who will be tried before the Juvenile Justice Board.

According to the chargesheet, Akhlaq's daughter's statement is the key witness in the case. The chargesheet has no mention of beef, said sources.

On October 9, forensic test had proved that the meat found in Akhlaq's house was mutton and not beef, said sources.
