MDMK, DMDK aspirants file papers

TIRUNELVELI: MDMK candidate Sadhan Tirumalaikumar and DMDK aspirant Muthukumar filed their nominations for the Sankarankoil by-election here on Friday. Sadhan Tirumalaikumar filed his nomination with the Principal Assistant Returning Officer Damodaran at Sankarankoil taluk office.MDMK district secretary Saravanan and other functionaries, including Nijam and Rajendran, accompanied him.Muthukumar submitted his papers to the Principal Assistant Returning Officer Damodaran at Sankarankoil taluk office. He came in a procession with party cadre from Swami Sannathi. DMDK functionaries, including district secretaries Ayamperumal, Ganeshkumar and Mohamed Ali, accompanied Muthukumar to the taluk office.Rajalakshmi filed her nomination as dummy candidate for Muthukumar for the bypoll. Meanwhile, the Tamil Nadu Toddy Movement has announced that it would contest the Sankarankoil by-election. The decision was taken at the meeting of the movement held in Coimbatore on Friday.In a press statement, field coordinator of the movement S Nallasamy said, “the movement will highlight the healthy aspects of toddy and the need to revoke the ban on the traditional drink, as well as other problems faced by farmers in our campaign.”
