Maoists block road

BHADRACHALAM: The nationwide bandh call given by the CPI Maoist evoked partial response in Khammam district on Wednesday. The bandh effect was seen in Bhadrachalam division only as the tribal villages on Chhattisgarh border are strongholds of Maoists.According to information, the Maoists blocked the road between Bhopalapatnam in Chhattisgarh and Bhadrachalam by placing tree trunks.A police team, led by Venkatapuram circle inspector KRK Prasad, restored traffic on the inter-state highway after removing the tree trunks. APSRTC cancelled its bus services to the tribal villages in view of the bandh.
